People often ask, what is a Digital Layout? Well, a Digital Layout is a process where you receive a personalized photo of your stone countertops showing the patterns and seam locations. The layout is designed by professionals that use specialized tools and software to design the look of the countertops. Digital Layouts consist of the template overlaying the photograph of the actual slab we will use on your job, so you can see all the patterns and seams that will be a part of your actual countertop.
Do I really need a digital layout?
Digital layouts are highly recommended to those customers that:
- have selected material with heavy veining,
- are doing full height backsplash,
- are buying expensive material,
- have a specific design element in mind,
- and, of course, always just in case!

Why does my countertop need seams?
In general, we prefer to minimize the use of seams in countertops projects. They can create real challenges with design, and they take our installation crews longer to install. However, there are some projects that require us to use a seam. Seams are important for the safety of our installers and the material of your countertop, to ensure stability and structural integrity. Larger or longer material may require multiple seams, whereas a thicker material could require additional support for the countertop. Seams should be placed in areas where the proper support can be provided, such as cabinet frames or additional substructure. We strive to make seams functional, while still making your countertop look its best.
Can I choose where the layout is located on the material?
There are many things that we consider when determining your layout, such as the seams, the patterns in your material, the length of the material, and the appliances that are located within your countertop. If you do have an opinion on the patterns, shapes, and veining that you would like to incorporate into your countertop, then we expect you to communicate that to us so that we can try to meet your expectations as best as possible.
How do I approve the digital layout?
You can approve your digital layout by coordinating and responding to your assigned project coordinator. Please communicate what you think so that we can create for you the countertops you envisioned.
How much is a digital layout?
When purchasing your countertops with your salesperson, we recommend that you add on your digital layout for just $250. It is a small price to pay when you are dealing with your home!
